City Hall and the Struggle Against Racism: Possibilities and Opportunities

Hamilton City Hall's deferral of the Anti-Racism Resource Centre Pilot Project has re-stimulated discussion about how best to address racism in the City. This event will engage members of the McMaster University, the broader community and City Hall in an important dialogue about the ongoing struggle to prevent racism in the City of Hamilton.

Hamilton City Hall's deferral of the Anti-Racism Resource Centre Pilot Project has re-stimulated discussion about how best to address racism in the City.  This event will engage members of the McMaster University, the broader community and City Hall in an important dialogue about the ongoing struggle to prevent racism in the City of Hamilton.

  • Keynote Address:  Shana Almeida, Ph.D. Candidate, York University & former Chief of Staff to Toronto City Councillor, Gord Perks:  "Can we defer racism too?  Contextualizing the state of anti-racism in the City of Hamilton".
  • Presentation:  Hamilton Committee Against Racism
  • Panel Discussion:  Local advocates and representatives from City Hall.
  • Performance:  HYPS/Hamilton Youth Poetry Slam!
