Human Rights, Equity, Accessibility, Respect Toolkit (H.E.A.R.T.)

The H.E.A.R.T. workshops are free. Space is limited so registration is required. Complete at least 3 workshops for a Certificate of Attendance.

An Introduction to Human Rights at McMaster

An introduction to human rights legislation and policies.

Positive Space Workshop
Monday, January 23rd, 2017, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in MUSC 311
Increase your awareness about the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+-identified persons. Upon completion, you’ll receive a poster to signify your workshop completion.

Accessibility 101

Enhance your understanding of accessibility in the McMaster context and develop skills to advance accessibility on campus.

Enhance your ability to build inclusion through the everyday use of words and phrases that focus on diversity.

An Introduction to the “Duty to Accommodate”

Learn the “duty to accommodate” in the classroom and workplace and about key terms such as “reasonable” and “undue hardship”.

Challenging Islamophobia on Campus

Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence

In this workshop, participants will learn how to best respond to and support survivors of sexual violence on campus.

Anti-Racism Workshop
Friday, January 27th, 2017, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in MUSC 311
Increase your awareness of what racism is and familiarize yourself with concepts including cultural appropriation and reverse racism.
