Rooted: Our Legacy, Our Strength, Our Future

Black History Month 2026

Background on the theme:

As we continue to face resistance to our legacy, history, and truth, it is essential that we remain rooted in our stories, identities, and lived realities. While anti-Black sentiment and challenges to equity and inclusion persist, we must continue to recognize and uplift the transformative contributions of Black activists, academics, and community leaders. Just as importantly, we must affirm that Black history is not solely defined by pain and struggle, but deeply rooted in strength, resilience, and joy.
