McMaster University’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Strategic Plan 2026-2028

Our Commitment to Inclusive Excellence

The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Strategic Plan 2026-2028 was created through a comprehensive consultation process involving students, staff, faculty, and leadership at McMaster. It reflects a synthesis of diverse perspectives, progress made in recent years, and responds to an evolving landscape of societal change, technology, accessibility requirements, and legislation. The EDIA Strategy aligns with Bolder Together – McMaster’s Strategic Plan 2026-2031, focusing on Inclusive Excellence and Inclusive Communities, and the strategic goals and priorities set by Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Leads across the university’s six faculties.

A Focus on Actionable Efforts

The Strategy focuses on actionable efforts to implement Inclusive Excellence, with recommendations targeting people, culture, leadership, community, research, policies, and systems. The three-year implementation timeframe accounts for evolving societal, technological, and legislative landscapes, ensuring the work remains relevant and effective. An implementation committee, including EDIA leads and key stakeholders, will guide the process, with plans for seamless transition and continuous improvement. Successful implementation will require collaborative efforts across the institution, emphasizing collective responsibility to make McMaster a better place to learn, work, and teach. The EDIA strategic priorities of the university’s six faculties are appended to this report.
