Description: This event marks the launch of the Black Professors Podcast, founded by Dr. Selina Mudavanhu and Dr. Motilola Akinfemisoye-Adejare, with support from McMaster University and the University of Calgary. Black students will join the founders in discussing the podcast’s creation and its focus on senior Black professors in Canada.

Description: In honour of Black History Month, sit with us for a reading of imagined new worlds where time, space and reality are malleable, filled with hope and promise for an equitable tomorrow. McMaster University Libraries and the Equity and Inclusion Office invite you to dream with us for new and vibrant futures, free from oppression and anti-Black racism at our event, Diasporic Dreams. A reading from the canon of Afrofuturist literature, we will bring to you greats like Octavia Butler, W.E.B DuBois and more! There will be tasty pan-African and Caribbean fare, coupled with a book giveaway!

From the Enlightenment to Black Lives Matter: Tracing the Impacts of Racial Trauma in Black Communities from the Colonial Era to the Present.
Join Dr. Ingrid Waldron (Professor and HOPE Chair in Peace and Health, Global Peace and Social Justice Program, Faculty of Humanities, McMaster University) for the launch of her new book From the Enlightenment to Black Lives Matter: Tracing the Impacts of Racial Trauma in Black Communities from the Colonial Era to the Present.
She will deliver a presentation on the main themes and findings in her book and will then sit down with Dr. Alpha Abebe (Associate Professor, Communications Studies and Media Arts, Faculty of Humanities, McMaster University) for a more in-depth conversation about the book’s main arguments.

Presentation features Blake Harding, son of Boomer Harding, who played on the 1934 team; Dorothy Wright Wallace, President of the Chatham Kent Black Historical Society, who grew up knowing many of the players and one of the foremost experts on Black History in Chatham, ON , Also attending is Miriam Wright, author of Sporting Justice: The Chatham Colored All-Stars and Black Baseball in Southern Ontario
